Throgmorton Charity Shield promises entertainment
The South Devon Football League are hoping for a bumper turn out this Friday night (23rd August) with the Throgmorton Charity Shield promising value for money entertainment both on and off the pitch at Coach Road, Newton Abbot.
The match itself will give Premier League champions Buckland Athletic Reserves a chance to redeem themselves after a shocking 4-0 defeat in May’s Herald Cup final, with opponents Watcombe Wanderers looking to cement their Premier status with a follow-up win.
“It will be a tough game; I don’t think it will be a friendly by far,” admitted Buckland skipper Carl Roles.
The SDFL are adding to the occasion with prize raffles and draws, and the Herald and Fred Hewings Cup first round draws will also be announced live at half-time.
The league’s committee are urging supporters to turn out in force to give support to this year’s three deserving charities: the Olivia Holmes Foundation, Pituitary Foundation and SANDS.
Kick-off is at 7.00pm.
