The Rugby World Cup is fast approaching and if you’re looking to warm up with some local action then choose from the fixtures below (though you might have to do some travelling this week!) The Fishermen of Brixham (pictured in black) opened their campaign last weekend with three tries and a 27-14 home win over Gloucester side Old Centralians. Martin Worthington scored the first try of the afternoon with Tom Goodman and Russ Morris following suit; Ed Barnes converted all three and added a couple of penalties. For a full round-up of that match, visit the report on the Brixham RFC website.
The other National League Three game also went to the home South Devon side, the Devon All Whites (aka Newton Abbot RFC) soundly beating Chippenham 49-25 with seven tries. You can read all about that by visiting the report on the Newton Abbot RFC website.
Elsewhere, Teignmouth RFC went down 38-8 at home to Newent in the Tribute South West One West League; Crediton edged TICS 32-28 in Tribute Western Counties West (see Torquay’s match report here), but fellow new boys Saltash lost out to South Hams outfit Kingsbridge 20-14. Finally, Paignton and Bude fought out a 24-24 draw at Queen’s Park in their opening Tribute Cornwall/Devon clash; for more from Paignton RFC, visit their Facebook page.
NB: The Tribute Devon 1 and Devon 2 leagues don’t get underway until next week and the week after respectively.
