Plymouth Duo Take Commonwealth Silver
Plymouth’s Sarah Barrow & Tonia Couch claimed a fantastic Silver medal in today’s Commonwealth Games 10m Synchro competition in Glasgow.
The girls have been training hard all year and have had some great results in the World Series events leading up to this years games in Scotland.
Speaking to Sport South Devon after the competition Barrow said “We both are really pleased with silver, the way we had been training we did really well to get on that podium. Looking back we should have got the gold but the judges didn’t seem to go with us.”
The duo finished with a score of 307.92, just behind the winners of Benfeito & Fillion from Canada, who scored 310.65 after the 5 rounds of diving.
The competition was delayed for a while due to a technical issue but the girls still managed to keep their concentration when the proceedings finally got underway. “The delay wasn’t the best preparation, maybe that’s why the scores were lower but Andy Banks our coach always keeps us calm and it didn’t affect us”.
Barrow added “It’s been a tough long year and we always work hard so we are really happy. We always wanted a Commonwealth medal, and today we achieved it.”
