Brixham Noses Bloodied by Visiting Liverton – Full SWPL Round-Up

Division One East:

Bad Defending Costs Brixham Perfect Start
by Bill Harris

On Saturday 16th August, Brixham played Liverton at Wall Park and lost 6-3. Liverton scored first after nine minutes through Harding but Brixham equalised after 14 through Beynon. Liverton restored their lead in the 17th minute through Aplin and widened the gap through Reeves in the 24th.
In the 53rd minute, Rivers increased Liverton’s lead further but Sam Green reduced the arrears in the 67th minute and Sean Kenny brought it back to 3-4 in the 75th minute. Reeves once more increased Liverton’s lead a minute later before Aplin finished it off with a goal in the final minute. Not a great result for Brixham but bad defending lead to their demise.
On Wednesday 13th August, Brixham had beaten Newton Spurs 2-1. After going behind  to a Tom Sercombe goal in the first half, the Fishermen equalised within two minutes of the second half and a Dan Rankin penalty made the game safe. Both teams created scoring chances in the second half.
